Unplugging: What Resonates

I personally love the idea of unplugging. I would completely drop social media altogether if it were not used so frequently by the Nashville music scene for communication. There are days when I forget my cell phone in my dorm, and although I am concerned about any urgently important messages or calls, I enjoy those days in a very freeing way. One of my favorite pastimes is backpacking in the hills of Tennessee and Kentucky. In those times, I know that there will be no internet connection, no power for my computer, and best of all, no phone service. In those times, it is amazing to have such a simple excuse to disconnect from society electronically and enjoy life with no unneeded distractions. I suspect that most of the world would be more open to unplugging for a few days if they just had a simple excuse such as exploring the wilderness with a group of friends.
